About Magra, Hooghly

Magra or Mogra is a small area of hooghly district in westbengal, India.
Magra contains the sophisticated people who are full of energy to do something new. This place is very near to Bandel & Chandannagore, another important town is closely related with magra i.e Tribeni, which is famous for its hindu religious significance.Magra is divided by two gram panchayets. Nearest rail stations are Magra (Howrah-Burdwan main line) & Tribeni (Howrah-Katwa).

Few manusripts say that once upon a time this was a pleasent place for a team of robber namely "Mogodh" (মগদ দস্যু),who used to go for robbering completing the puja of goddess kali at Tribeni kali tala (ত্রিবেনী কালীতলা) which is established at very near to magra..according to the name of "Mogodh robber" the neme Mogra has come which is now spelt as Magra also.
Magra is famous for its grand occasion "Saraswati puja"
Many clubs arrange this festival with great energy & superb thinking.
